Domaine Trapet Père & Fils, based in Gevrey-Chambertin, has been a family-run estate for seven generations, with roots tracing back to the late 19th century. In 1993, Jean-Louis Trapet took over the estate, steering it towards biodynamic viticulture, achieving Demeter certification in 2009. The domaine is renowned for its holdings in prestigious Grand Cru vineyards, including Chambertin and Chapelle-Chambertin.
Gevrey-Chambertin, located in the Côte de Nuits, is celebrated for producing robust and age-worthy Pinot Noir wines. The region's vineyards benefit from a continental climate with cold winters and warm summers, providing ideal conditions for grape cultivation. The area's diverse topography and soil compositions contribute to the distinctive characteristics of each vineyard.
The soils in Gevrey-Chambertin are predominantly composed of limestone and clay, contributing to the wines' structure and minerality. Domaine Trapet's vineyards, such as Chambertin and Chapelle-Chambertin, are known for their well-drained soils that impart depth and complexity to the wines. The combination of soil composition, vine age, and biodynamic practices results in wines that are both expressive and reflective of their specific vineyard sites.
