Domaine Etienne Sauzet was established in the early 20th century in Puligny-Montrachet and has become one of Burgundy’s most esteemed producers of white wines. After Etienne Sauzet’s passing in 1975, the estate was managed by his granddaughter, Jeanine, and her husband Gérard Boudot, who modernized the winemaking process while maintaining the estate’s commitment to quality. Now under the direction of their daughter Emilie and her husband Benoît Riffault, the domaine continues its legacy of producing some of the most refined expressions of Chardonnay in the Côte de Beaune.
The estate is located in Puligny-Montrachet, a village synonymous with some of the world’s finest white wines. Situated in the Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy, Puligny-Montrachet is known for its semi-continental climate, which balances warm summers with cool nights. This climate allows for the slow, even ripening of Chardonnay, preserving its vibrant acidity and aromatic complexity.
