The Cornu family's winemaking heritage dates back to at least 1800, with the estate established in Ladoix in 1875. Edmond Cornu took over the domaine in 1956, transitioning from selling grapes to négociants to bottling under the family label by 1959. Today, the estate is managed by Pierre Cornu and his cousin Emmanuel Boireau, continuing the family's dedication to traditional Burgundian winemaking.
The domaine spans approximately 16 hectares, primarily planted with Pinot Noir, and includes parcels in Ladoix, Chorey-lès-Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune, and Aloxe-Corton. These diverse holdings allow for a range of expressions, from village wines to premier crus.
The vineyards are situated on the southern edge of the Côte de Nuits, featuring soils composed of clay and limestone, which impart structure and elegance to the wines. The region's temperate climate and varied exposures contribute to the development of balanced and expressive Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
