Domaine Georges Noëllat, based in Vosne-Romanée, was revitalized in 2010 when Maxime Cheurlin, then just 20 years old, took over the family estate. The domaine's history is intertwined with Burgundy's legacy; Georges Noëllat was the nephew of Charles Noëllat, whose holdings contributed significantly to what is now Domaine Leroy. Under Maxime's stewardship, the estate has garnered acclaim for producing wines that marry traditional elegance with a modern touch.
Situated in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée is renowned for its exceptional Pinot Noir vineyards. The region's climate, characterized by cold winters and warm summers, provides ideal conditions for grape cultivation. Domaine Georges Noëllat's vineyards are located in some of the most esteemed plots, including Echézeaux and Grands Echézeaux, allowing for the production of wines with remarkable depth and complexity.
The domaine's 5.5 hectares of vineyards are planted on soils rich in limestone and clay, contributing to the wines' structure and minerality. Many of the vines are old, requiring careful attention and sustainable practices to maintain their health and productivity. This combination of soil composition and vine age results in wines that are both expressive and reflective of their specific vineyard sites.
