Founded in the late 1990s, Domaine de Montcalmès is a rising star in the Languedoc, particularly in the Terrasses du Larzac appellation. Sylvain Fadat, the visionary behind the estate, focuses on biodynamic practices and blending Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre to craft wines with elegance and balance, setting a new standard for the region’s reds.
Located in the Terrasses du Larzac, the region benefits from a Mediterranean climate with significant diurnal temperature variations. The cooling breezes from the nearby Cévennes mountains preserve freshness and acidity in the grapes.
The soils of limestone and clay mixed with stones provide a rich mineral profile and promote water retention, which is essential in this warm region. These conditions yield wines with depth, fine tannins, and vibrant aromatics.
