Established in 1834 by Antoine Jaboulet in Tain-l'Hermitage, Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné has been a prominent producer in the Northern Rhône. The estate gained international acclaim for its Hermitage La Chapelle, named after the chapel atop the Hermitage hill. In 2006, the Frey family acquired the estate, with Caroline Frey leading the transition to organic and biodynamic farming.
The Hermitage appellation is renowned for its steep, granite-rich slopes and exceptional Syrah wines. The region's continental climate, with warm summers and cold winters, provides ideal conditions for grape cultivation. The diverse terroirs within Hermitage contribute to the complexity and longevity of the wines produced here.
Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné's vineyards encompass some of the most esteemed parcels in Hermitage, including Les Bessards, Le Méal, and Les Greffieux. The granite and limestone soils, combined with biodynamic practices, result in wines that are powerful, structured, and reflective of their terroir. The estate's commitment to quality and sustainability ensures the continued excellence of its wines.
