Established in 1895 in Courteron, within the Côte des Bar, Champagne Fleury Père et Fils has been family-run for over a century. Emile Fleury initiated vine planting in 1901, and his son Robert began estate bottling in 1929. In the 1970s, Jean-Pierre Fleury pioneered biodynamic viticulture in Champagne, converting the estate in 1989, making it the first in the region to fully adopt these practices.
The Côte des Bar, located in the southern part of the Champagne region, is characterized by its rolling hills and a slightly warmer microclimate compared to the northern areas. This region is predominantly planted with Pinot Noir, which thrives in its unique terroir.
Fleury's 15 hectares of vineyards are primarily situated in Courteron and Riceys, featuring clay-limestone soils formed during the Kimmeridgian era. These soils, combined with the region's microclimate, contribute to the ripeness and freshness of the grapes. The estate's commitment to biodynamic farming enhances the expression of terroir in their Champagnes.
