The Estate

Domaine Jamet is a highly respected estate located in the Northern Rhône Valley of France, specifically in the Côte-Rôtie appellation. The domaine was founded by Joseph Jamet in 1950 and gained international recognition under the stewardship of his son, Jean-Paul Jamet, who took over in 1991. Today, the estate is run by Jean-Paul and his son, Loïc, who joined the family business in 2013. Domaine Jamet is renowned for producing some of the finest examples of Côte-Rôtie, known for their elegance, complexity, and ability to age gracefully.

Powerful Yet Precise Warmth

The 2020 season at Domaine Jamet began with an early spring and continued with a warm, dry summer that accelerated ripening across their steep hillside parcels. Despite the heat, the family's old vines, deeply rooted in granite soils, showed remarkable resilience, while their north-facing slopes helped maintain crucial acidity levels. The Jamets' early harvest decision in late August preserved freshness and aromatics, resulting in wines that combine power with surprising elegance.

September Rain Tests Timing

Jamet's steep schist slopes demanded precise harvest timing as September rains challenged the northern Rhône's late season. The vintage's moderate summer allowed gradual ripening across the family's eleven lieu-dits parcels scattered through Côte Brune and Côte Blonde. Traditional whole-cluster fermentation amplifies the wine's iron-laden minerality, violet florals, and the appellation's textbook olive tapenade character.
