The Art of the Blend
This six-bottle set showcases how blending traditions across France and Italy yield complexity, elegance, and age-worthy structure. From the Left Bank gravitas of 2015 Cos d’Estournel and the Right Bank finesse of 2015 Château Figeac to the layered depth of Châteauneuf-du-Pape—represented by the 2019 Domaine de Cristia Vieilles Vignes and Lucien et André Brunel Les Cailloux Cuvée Centenaire—this collection highlights regional mastery. Rounded out by the sleek Tuscan power of 2020 Orma and 2020 Mazzei Concerto, this is a global celebration of blending as both art and identity.
The 2015 vintage in Bordeaux is celebrated as exceptional, particularly in Saint-Émilion. This Château Figeac is a triumph, offering intense aromas of ripe blackberries, cassis, and violets, with complex notes of cedar, tobacco, and graphite. On the palate, it displays remarkable concentration and finesse, with perfectly integrated tannins and an extraordinarily long, multi-layered finish, promising 30-35 years of aging potential.
The 2015 vintage from Chateau Cos d'Estournel benefited from an exceptionally warm and dry summer, leading to perfectly ripened grapes harvested under ideal conditions. This Saint-Estèphe wine showcases the power and finesse characteristic of the estate, with a harmonious blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon. On the palate, it offers intense flavors of ripe black fruits, cassis, and dark chocolate, complemented by subtle notes of spice and tobacco, all supported by firm yet velvety tannins.
Bold aromas of black plum, cassis, and Provençal herbs highlight the 2019 Domaine de Cristia Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes, with hints of leather and graphite adding refinement. Fine-grained tannins and bright acidity frame its structured, powerful palate with a long, mineral-driven finish. This old-vine Grenache is commanding and age-worthy.
