Founded in 1743 by Claude Moët, Moët & Chandon has become one of the most iconic Champagne houses in the world. Renowned for its heritage, luxury, and consistency, the estate has played a pivotal role in bringing Champagne to global prominence. The house’s flagship wine, Moët Impérial, introduced in 1869, remains a hallmark of quality and style. Moët & Chandon continues to innovate while preserving its dedication to tradition and excellence.
Moët & Chandon is based in Épernay, at the heart of the Champagne region, and owns one of the largest vineyard holdings in the area, including parcels in premier Grand Cru villages. The Champagne region’s cool, northern climate ensures high acidity and slow grape ripening, key to producing the crisp, vibrant style for which the house is famous.
The terroir of Moët & Chandon spans 1,200 hectares of vineyards across the Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne, and Côte des Blancs. These diverse sites feature chalky subsoils that enhance drainage and minerality. The house expertly blends Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier from these terroirs to create wines with a balance of freshness, richness, and complexity. This approach ensures a consistent and recognizable style across its range, from the iconic Moët Impérial to its vintage and rosé offerings.
