The estate, managed by the Larmandier family for over eight generations, focuses on expressing the unique characteristics of their vineyards through minimal intervention and natural winemaking practices.
The 'Longitude' Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Extra Brut is crafted exclusively from Chardonnay grapes sourced from premier cru and grand cru vineyards in Vertus, Oger, Avize, and Cramant. These villages align closely with the 4th meridian, inspiring the name 'Longitude.' The vineyards are characterized by chalky soils, contributing to the wine's minerality and precision. The estate has practiced biodynamic viticulture for over 20 years, enhancing the expression of these unique terroirs.
In the cellar, the grapes undergo gentle pressing, with minimal clarification before fermentation. The must is fermented using indigenous yeasts in wooden vats, followed by aging on the lees to develop complexity and texture. The 'Longitude' cuvée is a non-vintage blend, incorporating 40% reserve wines from a perpetual reserve started in 2004, ensuring consistency and depth across releases.
