2019 Domaine Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Vergers

Price upon request

The 2019 Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vergers captures the sun-kissed vintage with its characteristic high-toned aromatics and orchard fruit intensity from this cooler, higher-altitude premier cru site. The wine unfolds with layers of ripe yellow apple, white peach, and citrus blossom, complemented by subtle notes of fresh almonds and wet stone. The palate shows impressive density and energy, with Les Vergers' signature vibrant acidity providing exceptional cut and persistence through the long, mineral-driven finish.

A fine effort, the 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Vergers wafts from the glass with scents of citrus zest, green apple, mint and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and vibrant, with a rich core of fruit, lively acids and a saline finish, it's often a bottling that does well in riper vintages.

Domaine Ramonet, founded in the early 20th century by Pierre Ramonet, is one of Burgundy's most revered white wine producers. Located in Chassagne-Montrachet, the domaine is now run by Noël Ramonet and his brother Jean-Claude, representing the third generation. With approximately 17 hectares of vineyards, including prized parcels in grand cru sites like Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet, Ramonet is renowned for producing some of the world's finest Chardonnays. The estate's meticulous vineyard management and traditional winemaking techniques result in wines of exceptional purity, complexity, and longevity.

Cool Site Meets Warm Year

The 2019 growing season challenged Domaine Ramonet's Les Vergers parcel with its higher elevation proving advantageous during the summer heat spikes. The vineyard's eastern exposure and cooling influence from the Chassagne forest helped maintain freshness despite the warm conditions. Careful canopy management and precise harvest timing in early September allowed Ramonet to capture both phenolic ripeness and the site's characteristic tension.
