Château Duhart-Milon is a historic estate located in the Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux, France. Established in the 18th century, the estate was revitalized under the ownership of Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) in 1962. Today, it is renowned for crafting elegant wines that showcase the essence of Pauillac. With its prime vineyard location adjacent to Château Lafite Rothschild, Duhart-Milon enjoys a prestigious reputation as one of the top-classified growths of the Médoc region.
The Pauillac region is synonymous with powerful and structured wines, thanks to its gravelly soils and temperate maritime climate. Nestled along the Gironde estuary, the area benefits from a natural drainage system and moderating influences that encourage balanced ripening. Pauillac’s rich history and commitment to excellence make it a cornerstone of Bordeaux winemaking, with Duhart-Milon exemplifying these traditions.
The terroir of Château Duhart-Milon is characterized by deep gravel soils layered over limestone subsoil, offering excellent drainage and heat retention. This composition is ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon, which dominates the estate’s plantings. The vines thrive in the mild maritime climate, producing fruit with concentrated flavors and robust tannins. Combined with meticulous vineyard management and traditional winemaking techniques, the unique terroir imparts structure, finesse, and longevity to Duhart-Milon’s wines.
