Founded in 1909 in Villié-Morgon, Domaine Marcel Lapierre gained prominence under Marcel Lapierre, who took over in 1973. Influenced by Jules Chauvet, Marcel pioneered natural winemaking in Beaujolais, eschewing chemical treatments and embracing organic farming. Today, his children, Mathieu and Camille, continue this legacy, producing wines that reflect the purity of Gamay and the character of Morgon.
Situated in the Beaujolais region, Morgon is one of its ten crus, known for producing wines with depth and aging potential. The area's rolling hills and temperate climate provide ideal conditions for Gamay cultivation. Morgon wines are often noted for their structure and ability to develop complexity over time.
The domaine's vineyards are primarily located on the Côte du Py, a hill composed of decomposed granite and schist. These well-drained, mineral-rich soils contribute to the wines' distinctive earthy and floral notes. The combination of soil composition and old vines results in wines that are both expressive and reflective of their terroir.
