Established in 2003, Mas Conscience is located between the villages of Montpeyroux and Saint-Jean-de-Fos in the Languedoc region. The estate's name is inspired by a local legend involving monks who carried jars called "conscience" to collect alms, symbolizing the estate's commitment to thoughtful and ethical winemaking. In 2020, Roman Kocholl and Audrey Bonnet-Koenig acquired the estate, continuing its dedication to producing wines that reflect both tradition and innovation.
Situated in the Terrasses du Larzac appellation, Mas Conscience benefits from a Mediterranean climate with significant diurnal temperature variations. This climate, combined with the region's diverse geology—including clay, limestone, pebbles, and schist—contributes to the production of wines with freshness, complexity, and balance.
The estate has been certified organic since 2012, emphasizing sustainable viticulture practices. The vineyards are surrounded by rich biodiversity, including wildflowers, trees, and hedgerows, fostering a natural balance. Mas Conscience focuses on cultivating grape varieties such as Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault, producing wines that are expressive of their terroir.
