Gianni Brunelli, founded in the late 1980s by its namesake, is a boutique winery in Montalcino, Tuscany. Brunelli, a restaurateur with a passion for wine, acquired the Le Chiuse di Sotto estate, reviving vineyards once tended by his father. After Gianni's passing in 2008, his wife, Laura, continued the legacy, focusing on producing high-quality Brunello di Montalcino that reflects both tradition and innovation.
Situated in the southeastern part of Montalcino, the estate benefits from a temperate climate with significant diurnal temperature variations. This climate, combined with the region's elevation, allows for the slow ripening of Sangiovese grapes, resulting in wines with balanced acidity and refined tannins.
The vineyards are planted on a mix of clay and limestone soils, providing excellent drainage and mineral content. Gianni Brunelli employs sustainable farming practices and traditional winemaking methods, including aging in large Slavonian oak casks, to produce wines that are both expressive and true to their origins.
