Domaine Richaud, located in Cairanne, Southern Rhône, has a history dating back to the early 20th century. Marcel Richaud took over the family estate in 1974 at the age of 17, bringing a new vision focused on quality and environmental respect. He transitioned the estate to organic farming in the 1990s, achieving certification in 2008.
Cairanne, part of the Côtes-du-Rhône Villages appellation, is known for its diverse soils and Mediterranean climate. The region's warm days and cool nights, influenced by the mistral wind, provide excellent conditions for grape cultivation. The varied terroirs contribute to the complexity and balance of the wines produced here.
Domaine Richaud's vineyards span 80 hectares, with 75 hectares in Cairanne and Rasteau. The soils are a mix of stony-clay limestone, providing good drainage and mineral content. The estate's commitment to organic farming and minimal intervention winemaking results in wines that are fresh, complex, and expressive of their terroir.
