Founded in 1920, Domaine Philippe Livera is a family-owned estate located in Gevrey-Chambertin. Now managed by Damien Livera, the fourth generation, the domaine has transitioned from selling grapes to négociants to bottling its own wines. The estate is recognized for producing wines that reflect the character and complexity of Gevrey-Chambertin.
Gevrey-Chambertin, situated in the Côte de Nuits, is known for its powerful and age-worthy Pinot Noirs. The region's vineyards are located on east-facing slopes with limestone-rich soils, benefiting from a continental climate that provides a long growing season. These conditions contribute to the depth and structure of the wines.
The domaine's vineyards include notable sites such as En Champs, Evocelles, and Clos Village. The soils here are predominantly limestone and clay, providing excellent drainage and contributing to the wines' minerality and complexity. The estate employs sustainable viticulture practices, including hand harvesting and minimal intervention, to ensure the wines authentically express their terroir.
