Domaine Moreau-Naudet, located in the heart of Chablis, has deep-rooted ties to the region dating back to the 17th century. The domaine’s modern chapter began under the stewardship of Stéphane Moreau, who, until his passing in 2016, was instrumental in transforming the estate into a benchmark for terroir-driven Chablis. His wife Virginie now continues this vision, with a focus on purity, minimal intervention, and expression of site, upholding a legacy shaped in part by Alfred Naudet—Stéphane’s grandfather and a key figure in defining the Chablis AOC in 1929.
The domaine’s holdings span over 20 hectares of Chardonnay across the Chablis appellation, including prized parcels in premier cru sites like Vaillons and Forêts, as well as village and Petit Chablis plots. These vineyards are anchored in classic Kimmeridgian limestone, rich in ancient marine fossils, which contributes to the crystalline texture and mineral tension of the wines. The cooler climate and varied vineyard exposures support slow ripening, preserving acidity and aromatic complexity.
The soils of Chablis are among the most distinctive in Burgundy, defined by their fossilized oyster layers and limestone marl. This unique geological structure imparts a chalky minerality and saline depth that are hallmarks of the region. At Moreau-Naudet, the approach to farming and vinification seeks to let these natural elements speak clearly—resulting in wines that are tactile, poised, and firmly rooted in place.
