Founded in 2014 by Frédéric Lafarge and Chantal Vial, Domaine Lafarge Vial is located in Fleurie, Beaujolais. The estate represents a thoughtful extension of Burgundian sensibility into the granitic hills of Beaujolais, merging precision viticulture with the distinct character of southern terroirs. The domaine is certified organic and biodynamic, reflecting a commitment to sustainable farming practices.
Fleurie is one of the ten crus of Beaujolais, known for producing elegant and aromatic wines from the Gamay grape. The region's vineyards are situated on steep slopes with granite-based soils, which contribute to the wines' freshness and minerality. The climate is semi-continental, with warm summers and cool winters, providing ideal conditions for grape cultivation.
The terroir of Domaine Lafarge Vial's vineyards is characterized by decomposed pink granite interlaced with quartz, providing excellent drainage and contributing to the wines' mineral detail and aromatic lift. The high-altitude, steeply sloped sites are planted exclusively to Gamay, with many vines over 50 years old. This combination of soil composition and vine age results in wines that are both expressive and reflective of their specific vineyard sites.
