Caroline Morey, daughter of renowned vigneron Jean-Marc Morey, established her own domaine in 2014 in Chassagne-Montrachet after inheriting a portion of the family estate. Drawing on deep generational knowledge, she has quickly gained recognition for her restrained, precise style. Alongside her husband Pierre-Yves Colin, she vinifies her wines in shared facilities, maintaining a distinct identity that reflects her lineage and refined vision.
Operating from Chassagne-Montrachet, Caroline Morey focuses on small parcels across some of the most prized villages in the Côte de Beaune, including Saint-Aubin and Santenay. Her cellar work reflects a minimalist approach that preserves the nuance of each site. The domaine’s emphasis on old vines and low-intervention practices allows for transparent expressions of each village and lieu-dit.
The wines are shaped by calcareous soils layered with clay and marl, varying subtly between plots to produce a spectrum of styles from racy and saline to dense and textural. Limited new oak and gentle pressing allow the terroir to guide the profile of each cuvée. Caroline Morey’s whites, in particular, reveal a firm mineral backbone and quiet intensity that speaks to both site and sensitivity in winemaking.
