The Estate

Domaine de Trévallon is a renowned estate located in the Alpilles mountains of Provence, near Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in southern France. The estate was founded in 1973 by Eloi Dürrbach, an architect who decided to plant vines on his family's property. Today, the domaine is run by Eloi's children, Ostiane and Antoine. Domaine de Trévallon quickly gained a reputation for producing exceptional wines that didn't conform to regional norms, particularly due to their unconventional blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. This unique approach led to the estate's wines being declassified from the local AOC, but it has not diminished their prestige or cult status among wine enthusiasts.

Alpilles Power Meets Finesse

The 2019 season at Trevallon began with a relatively wet spring, followed by an intensely hot and dry summer that tested even the estate's old vines in their limestone-rich soils. The cooling influence of the Alpilles mountains and careful canopy management helped maintain freshness, while October rains provided welcome relief just before harvest. Ostine de Romanée's team harvested exceptionally concentrated grapes that retained surprising freshness despite the challenging conditions.

Dense, Bold, Mediterranean Structure

2022 was a warm, dry vintage in Provence, yet Trévallon’s limestone terroir and high-elevation vineyards preserved freshness. Careful canopy management and low yields contributed to a concentrated yet balanced wine with Mediterranean character. A vintage of structure and bold expression.
