Château Lafitte, situated in Monein, traces its origins back to the 14th century. Under the stewardship of Philippe and Brigitte Arraou, the estate experienced a revival of winemaking traditions. Today, their son Antoine continues this legacy, steering the estate towards a natural ethos, epitomized by Demeter certification across its 5 hectares.
Located in the foothills of the Pyrenees in southwestern France, the Jurançon region is renowned for its unique microclimates and diverse landscapes. This area benefits from a combination of Atlantic and mountainous influences, providing optimal conditions for viticulture. The region's commitment to organic and biodynamic practices has led to the production of wines that reflect the true character of the grapes.
Château Lafitte's vineyards are planted with Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng on clay and limestone soils. These soils, combined with the region's climatic conditions, contribute to the wines' complexity and minerality. The estate's commitment to sustainability is evident in its use of solar power, gravity-fed systems, and rainwater harvesting. Innovative techniques, such as amphora aging and experimental macerated whites, further enhance the expression of the terroir.
