Domaine Saint Préfert was established in 1930 by Fernand Serre, a pharmacist from Avignon. In 2002, Isabel Ferrando, a former banker, acquired the estate, which then comprised 13.2 hectares of vineyards. Under her leadership, the domaine has gained a reputation for producing outstanding Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines, with her first vintage released in 2003.
Located in the southern Rhône Valley, the estate is situated in the Les Serres lieu-dit, south of the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This area is known for its Mediterranean climate, characterized by hot summers and mild winters, providing ideal conditions for viticulture.
The vineyards are planted on a terroir of galets roulés—large, rounded stones—that cover sandy and clay soils. This unique soil composition retains heat and ensures excellent drainage, contributing to the production of concentrated and expressive wines. The estate practices organic and biodynamic viticulture, enhancing the expression of its distinctive terroir.
