Domaine Rostaing, founded in the 1970s by René Rostaing, has earned its place as a revered name in the Rhône Valley. René combined vineyards from his family’s legacy with parcels inherited through marriage, establishing a domaine that spans some of the region’s most storied appellations. Today, the estate remains family-run, with Pierre Rostaing continuing the tradition while introducing modern winemaking techniques.
The estate is located in the northern Rhône Valley, a region celebrated for its steep slopes and complex, age-worthy Syrahs. The area is anchored by the iconic Côte-Rôtie appellation, where vineyards cling to dramatic hillsides overlooking the Rhône River. The continental climate and varied elevations of the region contribute to a long growing season, ideal for producing structured wines.
Domaine Rostaing benefits from a diverse terroir, with parcels spread across Côte Blonde, Côte Brune, and Condrieu. Côte Blonde is characterized by its sandy, granite-rich soils, lending wines finesse and elegance, while Côte Brune’s clay and schist bring depth and structure. This geological diversity, coupled with hand-tended vines, creates wines of remarkable balance and complexity.
