Serra Ferdinandea is a collaborative venture between the Planeta family of Sicily and the Oddo family of France, established to create wines that embody the union of Sicilian and French winemaking traditions. The estate is named after the Ferdinandea Island, a volcanic island that briefly emerged from the sea in 1831, symbolizing the fusion of cultures and histories.
Located between Sciacca and Sambuca in southwestern Sicily, the estate benefits from a Mediterranean climate with abundant sunshine and cooling sea breezes. This environment is conducive to cultivating both indigenous and international grape varieties, allowing for the production of wines that are both unique and expressive of the region's potential.
The vineyards are situated on a mix of clay and limestone soils, providing a balanced foundation for vine growth. By employing biodynamic farming practices and careful vineyard management, Serra Ferdinandea produces wines that reflect the harmony between the land and the vine. The combination of Sicilian terroir and French winemaking expertise results in wines that are both innovative and rooted in tradition.
