Founded in 1850 by Commendatore Giovan Battista Burlotto in Verduno, G.B. Burlotto is a historic estate renowned for its pioneering role in Barolo's development. Burlotto was among the first to bottle Barolo at the estate, a practice that set a precedent in the region. He also gained acclaim as the official supplier to the House of Savoy and for providing wine to the Duke of Abruzzi's Arctic expedition in 1899.
Verduno, located in the northwestern part of the Barolo zone, is characterized by its cooler climate and unique soil compositions. The area's terroir imparts a distinctive elegance and aromatic complexity to the wines, distinguishing them from those produced in other Barolo communes.
Today, the estate is managed by Fabio Alessandria, great-great-grandson of the founder, who continues the tradition of producing wines that reflect the unique characteristics of Verduno's vineyards. The estate's flagship wine, Barolo Monvigliero, is celebrated for its aromatic complexity and refined structure, embodying the essence of the terroir.
