Château L'Evangile is a prestigious Bordeaux wine estate located in the Pomerol appellation. The property has a rich history dating back to the 18th century and has been owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) since 1990. L'Evangile is renowned for producing exceptional wines, primarily from Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes. The estate's wines are known for their elegance, complexity, and aging potential.
Pomerol is a small but highly esteemed wine appellation on the right bank of the Bordeaux region in southwestern France. It covers approximately 800 hectares and is situated north of Saint-Émilion. Pomerol is unique among major Bordeaux appellations as it has no official classification system, yet it produces some of the world's most sought-after and expensive wines.
The terroir of Château L'Evangile is characterized by its diverse soils, including clay and gravel. The estate's vineyards are planted on the famous Pomerol plateau, where the soil composition transitions from gravel-rich areas to more clay-dominant sections. This variability in soil types, combined with the region's maritime climate, contributes to the complexity and distinctive character of L'Evangile's wines.
