Château Petit-Village has a long-established presence in Pomerol, with its current boundaries forming in the 18th century and significant quality investments occurring throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. Previously owned by AXA Millésimes and now part of the Moulin family portfolio, the estate has seen renewed emphasis on vineyard renovation and stylistic refinement. It continues to gain attention for producing deeply structured yet elegant wines from one of Pomerol’s prime locations.
The estate lies at the heart of the Pomerol plateau, benefiting from its triangular parcel bordered by Vieux Château Certan and La Conseillante. This central position gives it a diverse mosaic of gravel, clay, and iron-rich soils—an essential factor in the complexity of its wines. With elevations slightly higher than much of the appellation, it achieves optimal ripeness while retaining natural acidity.
Petit-Village's 10.5 hectares are planted with 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes are hand-harvested and vinified in a combination of concrete and stainless steel tanks, followed by élevage in up to 60% new French oak. The resulting wines are full-bodied yet finely tuned, showing layered fruit, firm tannins, and the ability to evolve gracefully over time.
