Weingut Fritz Haag, established in 1605, is a historic estate located in Brauneberg, within Germany's Mosel region. The Haag family has maintained continuous ownership for over four centuries, with Wilhelm Haag revitalizing the winery in the mid-20th century. Under his leadership, the estate gained international acclaim, and he was named German Winemaker of the Year in 1994. Today, his son Oliver Haag continues the family's legacy, focusing on producing high-quality Rieslings.
The Mosel region is renowned for its steep vineyards and slate soils, which contribute to the distinctive character of its Rieslings. The cool climate and river influence allow for slow grape ripening, resulting in wines with vibrant acidity and minerality.
Fritz Haag's vineyards encompass 19.5 hectares, including prime parcels in the Brauneberger Juffer and Juffer-Sonnenuhr sites. The estate employs traditional methods, such as fermentation with indigenous yeasts and aging in a combination of stainless steel and old oak barrels. The resulting wines are celebrated for their purity, elegance, and expression of terroir.
