Château Montrose is a prestigious wine estate located in the Saint-Estèphe appellation of Bordeaux, France. Classified as a Second Growth (Deuxième Cru) in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, it is often considered to perform at a First Growth level. The estate has a rich history dating back to the 18th century and has been owned by Martin and Olivier Bouygues since 2006. Montrose is renowned for producing powerful, long-lived wines primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The château has gained particular acclaim for its consistent quality and its pioneering efforts in sustainable viticulture.
Saint-Estèphe is the northernmost of the four famous communes of the Médoc peninsula in Bordeaux, France, known for producing powerful, tannic, and long-lived red wines.
