This outstanding wine is made in a delicate yet frothy 100% Chardonnay style. Along with the Nicolas Feuillatte Palmes d'Or, this may be the sexiest and most voluptuously-seductive Champagne in the marketplace.

The Estate

Taittinger, founded in 1734, is one of the few remaining family-owned and operated Champagne houses. Based in Reims, the house is currently led by Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger and his children, Vitalie and Clovis. Taittinger owns 288 hectares of vineyards, making it the second largest domaine in Champagne, with holdings in the best crus of the Champagne region. The house is particularly known for its Chardonnay-dominant style, with its prestige cuvée, Comtes de Champagne, being a blanc de blancs made entirely from Chardonnay.

Grand Cru Excellence in 2012

At Taittinger, the 2012 season began with challenging spring weather, but the Chardonnay vineyards in the Côte des Blancs benefited from perfect conditions during the crucial summer months. The warm, dry August and September allowed for optimal ripening while maintaining crucial acidity, particularly in the grand cru parcels of Avize and Mesnil-sur-Oger. These conditions produced wines of exceptional concentration and balance, marking 2012 as one of the finest vintages for this prestigious cuvée.

Côte Des Blancs Shows Class

Cool, wet spring delayed flowering across the Côte des Blancs, though late summer brought ideal conditions for Chardonnay. The house's grand cru parcels in Avize and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger benefited from perfect chalk drainage through autumn rains. The wine captures both power and precision, showing citrus, white flowers, and the profound chalky minerality characteristic of these historic sites.
