Domaine des Terres Blanches, founded in the 1990s by Noël Michelin, is a cornerstone of the Les Baux-de-Provence appellation in Provence. Michelin, alongside Eloi Dürrbach of Domaine de Trévallon, was instrumental in elevating the region to appellation status in 1995, championing organic farming as a cornerstone of its identity. Today, the estate spans 32 hectares of organically cultivated vineyards, producing distinctive red, white, and rosé wines that showcase the unique terroir of Provence’s Alpilles foothills.
Located in the heart of Provence, the Les Baux-de-Provence appellation is known for its dramatic landscapes and dedication to organic viticulture. The appellation’s proximity to the Rhône Valley lends its wines a robust character, blending Rhône varietals with Provençal charm. The north-facing slopes of the Alpilles provide a cooler microclimate, which, combined with the region’s limestone soils, creates wines with freshness, structure, and aromatic complexity.
Domaine des Terres Blanches thrives on the steep, chalky limestone soils of the Alpilles’ northern slopes. The region’s mistral winds and significant day-night temperature variations enhance grape health and flavor development, resulting in wines with vibrant acidity and balanced ripeness. Adhering to biodynamic principles without formal certification, the estate prioritizes minimal intervention in both vineyard and cellar. Their reds, including the cult favorite L’Exception, offer depth and spice, while the rosé and white cuvées reflect the finesse and minerality emblematic of this exceptional terroir.
