Château La Nerthe, with origins dating back to the 12th century, is one of the oldest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The château itself, constructed in the 18th century, stands as a testament to the region's rich viticultural heritage. The estate has been a pioneer in sustainable viticulture, practicing organic farming since 1998.
Situated in the southern Rhône Valley, Château La Nerthe's vineyards span 90 hectares in the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The Mediterranean climate, characterized by hot, dry summers and the cooling influence of the Mistral wind, creates ideal conditions for ripening a diverse array of grape varieties.
The vineyards are planted on the region's iconic "galets roulés" (rounded stones) soils, which retain heat and promote even ripening. This unique terroir imparts concentration and complexity to the wines, resulting in rich, full-bodied expressions that reflect the essence of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
